Red Room Madska.jpg

Madska (pronounced MAD-skuh) started as Maddy Rose Weisman’s solo venture during the crux of the pandemic, as a way to process the loss of relationships, longing for community, and the transition from adolescence to adulthood. Upon moving to Philadelphia, she collected musical conspirators including guitarist Sean Bonney-Burrill, and keyboardist Gabe Banford, who happen to be longtime childhood friends. Madska’s lyricism touches on themes such as yearning, nostalgia, and soul searching with a hopeful twist. Sitting somewhere between indie, pop, and alternative, Madska’s sound is unique in a way that feels introspective but driving, healing but fiery. The project’s name, adopted from Maddy’s childhood nickname, encapsulates everything that Madska epitomizes: rose-colored lenses for the passage of time, and a reminder of what connects us to each other.
